Tech Tip of the Week
If you have a 7020, 7030, 7033, 7040, 7065, or a 7075, this helpful tip submitted by our Service Manager Jim Bodie, will help you keep your copies clean and crisp.
For those unsightly lines on copies, today's modern multifunctional machines no longer rely on scanning the original 100 times to make 100 copies. Digital Technology enables today's machines to scan an original 1 time for multiple copies.
If the scanning glass (top picture) has dust or spots from whiteout or paper debris, the action of the paper being scanned across this glass will make these spots appear as lines on your copies. To determine if your copier actually needs service, you can use this procedure:
1.) Using a good clean original, make a copy using the automatic document feeder.
2.) Make a copy with that same original by placing it on the platen glass (center picture). Are there lines on your copies?
3.) If there are no lines on this copy, you simply need to clean your scanner glass with a damp cloth to remove the debris (bottom picture). Use window cleaner for more difficult spots.
If your copies still have lines after following these steps, you will need to call for service.
